We started the morning with an Irish Coffee and good New Orleans bar talk. We explored the French Quarters to see the different stores and food locations. There were some really cool shops and eateries. We worked up an appetite, and wanted to try to best Po’ Boys in the area. We traveled a little away from the Quarters, but it was definitely worth it. We arrived at Parkway Bakery & Tavern, and the place was jumping from the time we got there. It was a really popping spot, because the carry out line stayed full. We got the history behind the Po’ Boys name. We ordered Large Shrimp Po’ Boys. The Shrimp was so hot, fresh and fluffy. It was the best shrimp I had in New Orleans. It changed my Po’ Boys standards today. Loved the crispy bread and hot shrimp. This is a must go in New Orleans and the have many different variations.
We wanted more Seafood, and the Harbor had really good reviews. So we headed over, and it was packed. We tend to think that locations that are full must have pretty good food, so we proceeded. We started with some fried and blackened alligator for appetizer. I really enjoyed the seasoning on it, and very favorable portions. We ordered the Catfish platter with hushpuppies and a couple lbs. of Crawfish, potatoes, and Corn. We quickly realized that there was some cooking going on in Louisiana. We left very full and satisfied. It seemed like a perfect spot to go on a Sunday. The Harbor treated us right, I’m still thinking about that gator now 🙂 .~BLA
